The redwood and cedar milled today are from second growth trees. The wood does not have the characteristics the virgin trees of our grandparents generation had. The wood has a very high sap content and when used as fence posts, this wood will rot in a matter of a few short years. Up until a few years ago pressure treated fir was the most commonly used wood for fence posts. The EPA forced the manufacturers of pressure lumber to remove the toxic chemicals which made the wood last for decades. Now pressure treated lumber also rots at ground contact in a few years. Metal fence posts are economically the most practical, and structurally the best posts for building a fence. Most galvanized posts need hardware and brackets; they are limited to certain uses, and the ugly gray color takes from the beauty of a wood fence. A better design was needed. The Z/Post was developed by a licensed contractor because of all the reasons above, and many more. Please enter our site to find out why this new post is the best design ever made. Thank You and Welcome to the Z/Post. |
